Menmaatre Seti I was the ruler of Ancient Egypt.His father was
Ramesses I,and his mother was Queen Sitre.His son was named Ramesses II.One of his daughter's names was Tia.His other daughter's name was Henutmire.The pharoah had a number of names.The name Seti meant "of set".
Menmaatre meant "Eternal is the Justice of Re".He is better known for his birthname Sety Merenptah known as "Man of Set, beloved of Ptah".

Seti I's reign was about 15 full years. At about year 9
of his leadership,Seti appointed his son as the Crown Prince. Seti has fought many
wars.He had fought a bunch of wars in Western Asia,Libya,and Nubia in the first ten
years of his reign.Some inscriptions mention some battles in Canaan.During his first
year,he sent his armies into the "Ways of Horus" that led to Canaan.

Seti's main goal as pharaoh was to re-establish order in the kingdom.Also to reasure
Egypt's reign over Canaan and Syria.The 2 states were comprimised to the Hittites.
Seti and the Hittites were face to face in a few battles.But without destroying the
Hittites, he reconquered most of the territories from Egypt.

The greatest achievement of Seti I was the capture of the Syrian town of Kadesh and
the territory of Amurru from the Hittite Empire. Tutankhamun and Horemheb both did
not succeed in recapturing the city from the Hittites.Seti I succeeded in recapturing
the town and defeated a Hittite army who tried defended it.Soon,Kadesh and was under
Hittite control again,because Seti could maintain milatary force in that area.

Seti's tomb was discovered on October 16, 1817.His tomb was discovered by Giovanni
Battista Belzoni.His mummy was well preserved.His mummy was found with its head
decapitated.Some say it is because of some tomb robbers.Some may say he had a
disease,that may be related to his heart.

Seti I's tomb is located in the Valley of the Kings.It was proved to be 136 meters.
It was the and deepest of all the New Kingdom royal tombs.It was also the first tomb
to have decorations on every passageway and chamber.Seti I's mummy was said to be
about 40 yrs old.Seti I's mummy is about 5 ft 7 in tall.He died in 1279 BC.
